We recently shared photos of a beautiful engagement party last fall at a family's residence in Far Hills, New Jersey. This year, on the first day of summer, we provided lighting for the couple's wedding day at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

The bride and groom loved the warm lavender LED uplighting at their engagement party, so they requested it for their wedding reception as well.

Therese Wagner of Therese Marie Wagner Photography was so kind to share these beautiful photos of the reception. Therese is a joy to interact with and we highly recommend her.

Mike and his team from Jardiniere in Far Hills created beautiful floral tablescapes that tied in perfectly with the lavender lighting. They also provided the hydrangea floral arrangements at the engagement party last fall.

Valentine's Day Luxury Wedding Lighting and Decor • Pleasantdale Chateau • West Orange, New Jersey

Valentine's Day weekend is a classic time for romance. Eggsotic Events collaborated with Marie Danielle Vil-Young of A Votre Service Events to create a luxurious, romantic wedding setting at the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, New Jersey.

Eggsotic Events provided programmed, custom-color LED uplighting, as well as pin spotting. We also provided the custom graphic dance floor, using a pattern that matched the wedding stationery. The dance floor overlay was applied over the venue's existing octagonal dance floor.

We also provided a rich red velvet drape entry into the ballroom.

A Votre Service provided candelabra centerpieces with gorgeous red rose floral arrangements, as well as custom seating, linens and place settings.

We loved being part of such a dramatic transformation of an already beautiful event space.

Tented Engagement Party • Private Residence in Somerset County, New Jersey

Eggsotic Events teamed up with the Bernards Inn's talented staff to produce a beautiful, one-of-a-kind engagement party at a client's Somerset County home.

The party combined soft, rustic elements with modern purple lighting to create a space that's romantic and inviting.

Eggsotic Events provided LED uplighting, pin spotting, rustic oak barrel bars, tables, linens, and other assorted decor.

Our Bride-to-Be and Groom-to-Be chair banners, with Jardiniere's hydrangea floral arrangements.

Succulent Wedding Decor at the Stone House at Stirling Ridge • Warren, New Jersey

We love the succulent wedding decor trend, and this year we finally found an opportunity to get creative with succulents and other organic decor. 

Our bride Marissa and her fiancé (now husband) Evan love to go hiking together, and wanted their reception decor to reflect their love of nature. Each table was named after a hiking trail they've explored together, and we reinforced that theme by including photos of them on each trail in custom birch bark frames.

We used many varieties of fresh, live succulents, along with river rock, driftwood, and birch bark. No two tablescapes were the same, because each featured different varieties of succulents, moss, wood, and more. This design concept encourages guests to explore the room and take in the unique appearance of each centerpiece.

FAQ on Gobos

What is a gobo?

Our prospective clients ask us this question often, so we'd like to explain the meaning and applications here. 

A gobo is a steel or glass stencil-like sheet that is used in light projection fixtures. Gobos project patterns, textures, colors, and graphics on to floors, ceilings and walls.

The name gobo comes from "go between" or "goes between optics". The gobo is inserted into a sleeve in between the light fixture's light source (bulb) and its lens. The lens allows the installer to focus and size the projected image based on the desired look.

There are two primary types of gobos: standard stock gobos and custom gobos. 

There are also two types of gobo materials: steel and glass.

Standard Gobos

Standard gobos, or stock gobos, are gobos that are pre-manufactured in thousands of different patterns, images, and objects. Many common items, such as landmarks, hearts, stars, sports imagery, and abstract patterns are available as standard gobos. When you select a standard gobo projection fixture rental, we include your choice of standard/stock gobos at no additional charge.

Custom Gobos

Custom gobos are manufactured specifically for your event. They can include your logo, company name, couples' names, initials, event date, graphic of choice, and so on. They are manufactured by taking your image (a high resolution JPEG, PNG, or PDF) and manipulating it based on the type of gobo.

Steel Gobos

Steel gobos are the most frequently used kind of gobo. They are laser-cut from a thin sheet of steel. This means that the image being produced has "bridging", which refers to very thin lines to hold the gobo pattern together. For example, this image shows the difference between the original graphic and the gobo pattern:

Steel gobos are the most cost-effective choice of custom gobo. However, there are some limitations to the complexity of the image, and some graphics are more heavily impacted by bridging than others.

Glass Gobos

Glass gobos are custom manufactured, and can include a 1-color or full color image of your logo, monogram, or other graphic. Glass gobos can be more complex and also more easily legible than steel gobos. If you are hosting an annual event, glass gobos are an excellent choice because the projection quality is high and they are reusable year after year.

Modern Candy Theme Sweet Sixteen at Vegas NJ • Randolph, NJ

A few years ago, we transformed the ballroom at Dolce Basking Ridge into a Four Seasons themed cocktail party, complete with draping, lighting, and ceiling decor for Maddie's Sweet Sixteen. This year, Maddie's younger sister Sophie turned sixteen, so it was time for another gorgeous room transformation.

Sophie and her family selected Vegas NJ, a new venue in Randolph that features modern lighting and lounge furniture. Eggsotic Events created the room layout, and added beautiful lighting, custom decor, and glowing furniture to create a night club feel with a candy theme throughout. We also created two custom sculptures of giant lollipops to act as bar decor.

Our custom canvas wraps with pin spotting created large artwork features throughout the room, and our glowing acrylic tables and pedestals reinforced the party's color scheme.

We were also joined by Hollywood Candy Girls, who created candy centerpieces and a custom candy buffet, and by Carlo's Bake Shop, who created a tiered candy-themed cake.

Super Bowl XLVIII Comes to NJ/NY: Club Primesport's VIP New York Pre-Game Experience • Moonachie, New Jersey

Eggsotic Events was chosen to provide event design, lighting and decor services for one of the hottest events surrounding Super Bowl XLVII, a VIP pre-game party with over 1100 guests.

Club Primesport's New York Pre-Game Experience was hosted by Tiki Barber, Jerry Rice, Eli Manning, and Bonnie Bernstein. 

Eggsotic Events provided lighting, props, custom artwork, custom draping, comprehensive CAD site plans, and full installation and takedown services.

Primesport and Eggsotic Events teamed up to completely transform The Graycliff in Moonachie, New Jersey into a series of unique event spaces. Each room within the party had its own theme, unified by the New York experience overall theme.

Great Gatsby Office Transformation • Union County, New Jersey

We love the recent Great Gatsby theme decor trend, and we have a large collection of props and decor elements that are perfect for a Great Gatsby, art deco, 1920s, or speakeasy theme party.

Here is a recent transformation of an under-construction raw office space:

Before:

Before: Unappealing lighting, a large window wall with an undesirable view, a concrete floor, and an unfinished ceiling.

After:

After: Blackout draping to hide the window wall, metallic gold draping as an accent wall, a champagne tower with pin spotting, LED colored downlighting, gold lame linens, and majesty palm trees.

We combined art deco decor elements with modern lighting technologies to transform this drab office into a Great Gatsby era experience.

Creative use of downlighting draws attention away from the unfinished ceiling, while draping and art deco decor elements create new focal points.

Acrylic crystal chandeliers act as room decor and floating centerpieces. LED uplighting in fuchsia and green added bold color to plain white walls. 

Metallic fringe draping, shown here in gold, is also available in many other colors and heights. It's perfect for a photo backdrop. It is displayed using our freestanding support hardware, so nothing is attached to the venue's walls or ceilings.

Putting the food station in the center of the room creates a gorgeous focal point. It also encourages guest flow throughout the space, making it perfect for a cocktail format party.

Michener Art Museum's Grace Kelly Beyond the Icon Gala

In October 2013, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Princess Grace Foundation-USA partnered with the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA to host an exhibit titled From Philadelphia to Monaco: Grace Kelly Beyond the Icon.

A gala was held to honor the opening of the Grace Kelly Beyond the Icon exhibit, and was attended by Prince Albert II of Monaco, Grace Kelly's son.

The wonderful Rusty Thomas of Rusty Thomas Event Designs partnered with the museum's team to plan and design an elegant, sophisticated reception space at the museum.

Rusty and his team created beautiful centerpieces with yellow roses and ivy. He invited the Eggsotic Events team to provide lighting, custom red carpet, chandelier installation, and audio engineering services.

The gala also featured a performance by Leslie Odom, Jr., an actor from the show Smash. Eggsotic Events provided audio engineering for this performance and others throughout the event.

Birch Wedding at The Bernards Inn • Bernardsville, New Jersey

For many events, we collaborate with several other companies to create the completed design. Sometimes, we provide centerpieces while an AV company sets up lights. Other times, we provide lighting and room decor while a florist does centerpieces. We love working with others, but sometimes an event comes along where we are chosen as the full service event design company from start to finish. We act as the lighting, floral, installation and fabrication company for all of the event's decor needs.

When we book these projects, we spend months planning, designing, building and preparing a complete decor and lighting package. There are few things more satisfying than seeing countless hours of hard work come together in one beautiful room.

For this wedding, we were chosen by Diane Carr and Jeffrey Haines of the Bernards Inn. We have worked with them in past years with excellent results, and they knew that we were the right team to bring their concept to life on time and on budget.

After the design phase was complete, we set to work on finding resources for each element. We went to floral markets to find out what would be in season in October. We found the best local resource for live trees that are over 10' tall. We found a man in Michigan who collects birch bark from naturally downed trees in the woods near his home.

We built, painted and applied birch bark to an 8' x 8' freestanding wall. We found just the right lengths of birch trunks to create a chuppah entirely out of wood. We sewed fabric, made birch candle holders, and chose new lighting fixtures to get just the right amount of light throughout the room.  We also built four birch arches, customized planters, and selected floral accents.

Our floral centerpieces featured hydrangea, orchids, roses, lilies, cabbage, and several other accent flowers. Our staff florist even waxed leaves individually by hand to make perfect decorative accents for each place setting.

When the big day came, the room was absolutely spectacular. It had a feeling of warmth and romance to it that can't be fully captured in photographs. It delighted us, the venue staff, and of course the bride and groom.
